Team Challenge Level 2, Wearable Designs

Congratulations for your awesome Trash to Treasure Static Sculptures! I cannot wait to see what you come up with for our level 2 challenge, Wearable Designs. 2 points will be awarded to any team that creates something wearable that the model can move in with out destroying the materials. 1 point will be awarded to any team that tries on their unique designs! Remember, you are required to use at least two of the original materials.

Team 1 - Elizabeth, Jodi, Xavier and Jordan will be crafting with 1 beach towel, 4 clothes pins, 3 jingle bells, and two empty, mesh produce bags.

Team 2 - Aiden, Elias, Harper, and Morgan will be working with 2 empty, mesh, potato sacks, 3 safety pins, a 4 foot long piece of elastic, pillow stuffing, and one garbage bag.

Team 3 - Isaiah, Jaxson, Olivia, and Mila will use four handkerchiefs, 5 rubber bands, a spool of twine, and a 4 by 5 foot piece of fabric.

Dont worry; you are going to wear your clothes under your design on Friday when we model them. Remember, you can bring in as many additional materials as you like.

Please look at some images of avant-garde artists, like Kevan Hall, and of pictures of runway events, like The World Of Wearable Art Competition.

For an additional point, post pictures of your ideas, or links to cool wearable art sites.

Our first Team Challenge! Trash to Treasure

This is the smaller game within the big game! Each week, teams will be given a random assortment of materials. Their challenge is to make a static (moving) design with the supplied objects. Throughout the week, students are invited to bring materials of their choice into class to add to their creation. On Friday, 2 points are awarded to every student who participates in creating a static, 3d sculpture, using all of the given materials. 1 point will be accredited to students with 2d, or stationary deigns. You are going to need to communicate with your teammates to make a successful design. Ask questions. Do you want to design a functional, or decorative structure? Do you want to use all of the given materials, or only select some of them?

Level 1 Teams and Materials: Trash to Treasure
Team 1 - Isaiah, Morgan, Elija, and Jodi will be working with one news paper, 2 empty coffee tins, 2 Hotwheels cars, empty toilet paper roll, 1 by 4 ft of aluminum foil.

Team 2 - Aiden, Olivia, Xadrian, and Elizabeth will use 5 couch springs, 5 feathers, 3 wood blocks, duct tape, 4 by 4 piece of bubble wrap, and a small cardboard box.

Team 3 - Jordan, Jaxson, Harper and Mila will build with 5 ft of roap, 2 battery powered fans, 2 by 2 piece of wax paper, a thin 2 by 3 piece of cardboard, a 2 by 4 piece of styrofoam, and 25 toothpicks.

Good luck and have fun!
